Remembering Pizzagate in Honor of the Red Sox World Series Berth

At baseball games pizza rarely takes center stage. The focus is always on hotdogs, peanuts, and cracker jacks. During the 2007 season, however, pizza got in on the action. It was the Red Sox traditional Patriot's Day morning game. They were sticking it to the Angels on a cold rainy day. What happened next has lived on in NESN telecasts to this day.

During the 7th inning J.D. Drew hit a foul ball made it's way toward the seats in short left field. I'll let Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy take it from there:
I'm not usually one in favor of wasting a good slice of pizza (and the Papa Gino's at Fenway is pretty decent by ballpark standards) but I'm all for it in this case. This has become an infamous moment and is perhaps the most iconic moment involving pizza ever in MLB history (it's definitely the funniest).

Despite lots of analysis over the years no one knew why the man through the pizza. Did he hate people who tried to catch foul balls? Did spilled beet drive him over the edge? Did he just get his kicks by throwing pizza? Finally, this year the pizza thrower made his return to Fenway to explain his motives to pizzagate theorists everywhere.
Baseball is a superstitious game. After pizzagate in 2007 the Red Sox went on to win the championship. Now that the thrower has returned to Fenway the Sox are back in the World Series. Has his presence blessed the 2013 team with the power of pizza? I can't say for sure but I do know that I'll be watching the games while eating some slices, and not throwing them.
